As you can see, George loved to say hi to daddy as he typed away on the computer in his office! We had fun saying hi, giving daddy back massages and making a ruckus in the background! :)

Scott and I had a great time finishing up our talks last night for church today! Hubby did start it last night, but that's a talent of his; quick prepared lessons and writing talks in a day ;) As for me, I really like a weeks notice so I can obsess and plan and worry all week; but I like spending time on things. :)

I am so happy we went down the hill yesterday! I didn't even know it was Labor Day Weekend, nor that the mall has the best sales available!!! Normally, I do not buy clothes from the mall, I buy clothes them from Walmart, Target (on the high end for me!) and TJ Max! But when I saw the mark off tags on darling boy clothes and then realized it there was an additonal 40% off mark off that price as well, I ... ok, well, I freaked! A $32 pair of shoes for $6, and several adorable well made T-Shirts like the one above for $3.60-$6.99, and the so many other fantastic deals was insane. Granted there were clothes with no mark off prices, but everything in store was 40% off the marked price on the tag (including discount markings on tags). I'm a little more frugal, at least when I can be, and always go for the cheapest but good looking items. All shorts/pants were originally $30 and I got them for under $10 each. If any item ended up being over $10 in the end, I put it back (the sale calculator app helped a lot). I mostly got the cute shorts, and knew I could just get the $10 jeans at Walmart later (and we did. We really need thick long pants at our new home). Anyway, Nana and I had a blast shopping yesterday, after she got fantastic care at the Apple store and got her computer fixed and figured out (that place is always packed)! George was sacked out in his stroller, so cute and fast asleep, which was a HUGE blessing (I would not have been able to get the shopping done that I did otherwise, and he wouldn't have a whole new wardrobe for sure). Lets just say since I realized that Gymboree is one of the few places with cute boy clothes (clothing in the Toddler market seems to be dressing them as pre-teens) and is affordable during sales, I have now joined and gotten a free membership card, When great sales like this happen (apparently every 4 months or so I found out from one of the insiders!) I'll now get notified, which I'm really thrilled about. Did they set it up so children outgrow their clothes around every major sale? I'm sure it overlaps some, so they can actually make a good profit. Well, I'm excited and happy George will be dressed cute along with his little sister. I definitely think my mom was bummed we didn't shop for our girl, but I knew this was my only chance to dress George exactly how I wanted without breaking the bank. A whole new wardrobe for around $80... Cheaper than one designer pair of Jeans, just think! Why do they make jeans so expensive?!George had the time of his life at Liberty Stations playground! He and Nana had such a blast! Mom and I took pics as George went around full speed. Nana's also observed that he's a "roamer", staying put in one spot is really hard for him, and that's good :) He'll grow up big and strong being athletic and not settling for sitting in a seat all day (he does enjoy TV though!). Going to school may be hard for him, and I hope our local school will be outdoorzie enough for him. If not, we live in the mountains so there's plenty of outdoor things to do after! Home school is also an option. Having options is always good. As you can see from the second pic, George's favorite thing of all was running after pigeons! I was very impressed that they were so allowing and mostly stayed on the ground for him! I kept reminding him to be gentle, and he never got rough as he chased them. Its really important to me that he's kind to all creatures, the ant to the dog to the cow (No cow tipping!). Before the park excursion though, we went to TJ Max to go shopping. Finally we have started the search for baby girl dresses and darling accessories. Personally, I don't like pink... but for some reason, now I do! I have to attribute it to my mommy hormones and brain chemicals. I am really picky about the pink though, it has to be a dusty soft rose pink! It portrays love, kindness, innocence and beauty to me. All other pinks, bright and flashy seem to be from our pop and Hollywood culture full of misery, drugs, broken marriages (all over the magazine covers) and the like... I don't like them and they're always shoved in my face it feels. But soft dusty rose is so subtle and sweet though!!! A perfect touch of feminine softness. Oh my goodness... our little girl is going to be one of those girls who just wears pink! She's going to kill me when she gets older!!! Lol, I'll try to find some soft baby blues and gentle yellows for her to wear! But I'm picky with clothes, I will only pick the cutest ones out there, our free market has put so many lame clothes in the stores for kids, it's hard to find "baby" baby clothes and not "dress up you baby as a preteen" baby clothes. It makes the search more fun though, and when I do find clothes I like to scream "Score!" in the store! Not literately, just in my head ;)
Anyway, we found the most darling clothes, and some other things like a Disney humidifier, car seat weather protector, sleep sack, and baby proofing items for our new home. Very excited about our little Sweetheart on the way! George will be such a good big brother too, I just know it! Ok, so I've done a do it yourself haircut once before, but my hubby helped me, so it wasn't completely "do it yourself!", but this time I got stir crazy at home and decided to do something reckless. ;) It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but I managed ok, and it looks presentable, so I'll give myself a thumbs up for a job well done!
If you want to save money or just feel self reliant, I found out how to do DIY Haircuts at http://www.howtohairgirl.com/2013/01/5-diy-haircuts-to-try-today/ I did haircut #3 and had to do some touch ups that I've learned on DIY videos on YouTube and cosmopolitan, mainly because I have a side part, which ruined the face frame. Oh well, it turned out great, at least in the pic! Yesterday, George got to try out his new Jeans (first pair ever!) and sturdy shoes at our new home we're in the process of buying. He strutted around the hills and terrain with such confidence it made me grin! He had no casualties with with his knees or feet this time, and I think he could sense the protection his new heavy clothing brought with his confident strut. He did get little plant splinters in his hands when he fell down as we were heading out though. I'm happy they didn't end up all along his legs this time though! Maybe we need to get little toddler work gloves!
Am I the only one upset with our horrible healthcare system? Maybe it's now worse than it was before Obamacare or maybe it's just the same horribleness, but I feel like cattle being herded through the birthing system! Today I'm 24 weeks pregnant. Today I met with my OBGYN (who might be delivering my baby) for 2 minutes... That's 120 seconds. Do you know what she did? She measured my belly, smiled, said "hi, how are you feeling?" (with real honesty of course, but we didn't talk much beyond that), and used the Doppler. She then gave me a paperwork for a blood test and and glucose test, and said goodbye many times as she headed out the door.
George hadn't seen his bff for quite a long time, so he was really excited to see her after the long drive! I don't think she realized it was her birthday, but I'm sure she enjoyed the love and attention of family and friends! It makes me realize George won't understand when his b-day rolls in in less than a month! At this age its less important, but the extra love and attention and some extra fun is always a good thing, granted they should always have love and attention. Anyway, it helped me understand a 2 yr olds point of view of birthdays! They see themselves equal to everyone else, not above, are meek, want love, and just want to roam and have fun, nothing too structured or rigid!!! They also LOVE cake!!!!
Anyway, it was fun seeing George and his best friend blend in with the crowd and have fun. In the pic above, George and bff are playing after the party wound down. As you can see, she liked the Princess shoes George gifted her! Last night we had an awesome thunder storm with hail. It was very exciting but only lastly strongly for about 20-30 minutes. I love big storms! ^-^ Ones that are safe enough at least.
Anyway, it reminded me of last week when it suddenly started up while George and I were in town. He had sooooo much fun! We watched it pour in front of the small store front, and I let him run around in it in an open court yard. On the way home, we noticed the stream going downhill along the street side and I showed him the fun of sending leaf boats down it. He really had a blast. One of the reasons we love it up here :) George, Nana and I had an awesome day at the mall yesterday. George's favorite activities included the $5 race car stroller, that I wished were around when I was little, and going up and down elevators and escalators! He wasn't too fond of the shopping part, but we managed to get his bff an amazing birthday present at the Disney store. The Disney store was his favorite store (well, only one he liked really!) and his eyes lit up at the sparkly purple pathways and huge projector TV in the children's area, with a scene from Frozen playing on it. When night club lights started flashing to celebrate a birthday though, his face went a little blank! If your child has epilepsy, do not tell them it's your child's birthday! It was a pretty interesting experience though! By the end of it all though, he really didn't want to leave the store! Soon after we left with some tears he fell asleep soundly in his hard plastic stroller. Great to pretend drive, horrible to nap! You really cant put anything in there to keep a head propped up. We left shortly after and then got to pick up daddy, and George was happy about that! We ended the day with a nice FHE (family home evening) and then headed off to an informative DoTERRA class (which we'll never go to again, but still informative)!
Firstly, this post is not for those who are DoTERRA or Young Living members. I encourage you not to read this. Imagine you hate Fox news... this is the Fox news channel!
