This shake turned out great. The best part of the shake is that it tastes totally amazing even without ice cream. If you want to get in your greens and get those servings of fruit in, this is the shake! The pomegranate seeds and banana mix incredibly well and makes it very sweet naturally, the whole foods way. I never notice the Spinach with the other things I mix in, so it's never an issue for me and adds greens in my diet effortlessly.
Ingredients:
1 Cup packed, fresh Spinach
1 Cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 banana
3/4 Cup pomegranate seeds (about one small pomegranate)
1 Cup vanilla ice cream (totally optional, not part of a whole foods diet, but gives it the creamy grasshopper color)
Dirrections:
Combine all ingredients and blend well in blender. Serve immediately and enjoy.
If you'd like to go without ice cream for a way healthier morning, but still want the shake nice and cold, try freezing the banana peeled in a ziplock bag overnight in the freezer. The shake tastes amazing without it being cold though, and even without ice cream. Give it a taste before adding ice cream and maybe even try a fresh banana from the counter top before trying the shake with a frozen one. Adding ice to make it cold changes the authentic flavor, so I recommend tasting it before adding ice so you know the taste difference. Enjoy :)
