In my quest to find the perfect shake, I've learned a few things on the way. First, the quickest way to make a shake to rival Jamba Juice (and it's actually not hard to!) is to use juice as a base of your shake/smoothie! Orange Juice is my go-to juice base, and when using it, I've rarely had to use something else to sweeten it! Another tip I've learned is that "more" isn't always necessarily "good". Adding more will just make way more to drink (not pack more in a single glass). When adding things, I like to keep that in mind, as well as the possibly of making the shake too thick to blend. The third thing I've learned is that sugar never really needs to be added. If you use the right fruit and juice bases, you can get by lovely with never adding sugar. And lastly, it's so easy to throw in protein! I like to use protein powder sparingly since it can get strong, but another way to boost the protein in your shake or smoothie is by adding plain greek yogurt. If you don't like Greek yogurt, it's fine, you won't even be able to tell. In one cup of greek yogurt is 20 grams of protein (in regular yogurt theres hardly anything)! Add 1/2 C greek yogurt to any shake for a 10 gram protein boost! The reason why I personally don't add greek yogurt anymore in my recipes is that I have a bit of a dairy intolerance (though I love dairy). You can totally add it though to almost any shake or smoothie. With all that said, please enjoy the recipes and tell me how you like them ;)
Daily Rader Farms Power Fusion Smoothie
Oddly enough, this is one of my children's favorites. My kids seem to love green shakes and tend to be reserved with my berry milkshakes. Out of all my shakes, this is the quickest to throw together and the easiest to remember. It also tastes amazing! To find out where you can buy Rader Farms frozen products, see their store finder here.
Ingredients:
1 C Orange juice
1 C Rader Springs Power Fusion Mix
Half serving size of vanilla protein powder
Directions: Throw all ingredients in blender and blend for a few minutes until well blended (this helps protein powder and frozen mix to blend well. Don't rush the blending ;)).

Jamba Juice Razzmatazz Smoothie
After making this, I've made up my mind to never again go to Jamba Juice! It's the fraction of the cost with all the yumminess. You can also get creative and add banana or use fresh berries instead of frozen (I like frozen because it's quick and hassle free). I like the creaminess the greek yogurt adds, but I usually skip it because of my sensitivity. Hope you enjoy :)

Healthy "Desert Milkshake" of chocolate chip mint.
This isn't your typical shake... though it has a few scoops of ice cream, it's packed with greens and an orange juice base. Sounds bizarre but you can't even tell the "healthy" is in the shake! The beauty of this shake is that the "green" makes sense with the mint (I also use Fresh and Easy brand ice cream, which is dye free, so it's milky white, not green)! Though there's no sugar added besides in the ice cream, this is not low on the Gylecemic Index scale. However, if you want a treat or an awesome way to sneak in greens in a snap (no cooking, just yummy blending!), then this is it! This one is also a favorite among my kids, and they swarm around me every time I make it!
Ingredients:
1C orange juice
1/2 C frozen chopped spinach
1/2 C frozen chopped kale
3 pieces frozen broccoli
"1/2 serving" scoop of vanilla protein powder (10 g protein)
2 scoops Fresh and Easy brand, mint chocolate chip ice cream
Directions:
Blend all the ingredients, besides the ice cream, for a few minutes until the veggies are completely blended and there are no visible pieces of green. To do this, I start blending on a lower setting and then work up to a higher setting. After it's smooth and "green," blend in the ice cream. Serve Immediately and enjoy!
