It was pretty exciting today, getting to go to our first play date up here in our new home and community! We've lived up in the community for two months, and our new home a little more than one, but finding a play date group can be tough! The turn out was really poor, and no one showed at first, but George and I had a blast. George slid down the slide and terrorized the play structure till our friend from church, who had been invited herself and invited me too to the group came. George grinned as her son came and waved from the fence. They had a complete blast. Soon after, another mom came with two children and it was a good group of 5 kids! I practiced my social skills (because I'm really socially awkward, and am trying to gain some skills through practice!) while I refereed George at the same time as he mimicked older kids doing things that are life threatening to two year olds. It really felt great to socialize with other women and I'm going to keep this playgroup crazy glued to my calendar for weekly events, as much as possible! Now for internet stalkers who are strangers, we never meet at the same place, times and dates may change, and us moms are unpredictable so we're not easy prey so look elsewhere! (to my children, do what I do and never reveal too much info and always mix your schedules up!).
This week has been really nice and hubby has only has to go into work 2 days this week. Granted, a lot of his free time he's been whacking weeds with vigor, but it's still been nice to know he's close... but I'd like it much better if I could be glued to his side, oh well. I think we'll be ready for our fire insurance inspection at least and Scott will be able to smile with pride as we pass the inspection! I think work will never be done, and that means Scott will never stay off his feet, but as a homemaker I'm making family meals a priority and it's so nice to sit down all together and eat a good meal!

Yesterday, George and I were able to visit Nana and we had a nice time seeing the dogs (George's favorite), hang out in the car for several hours as George napped in his seat after we went out, and then, get to go to the play ground! George really likes to conquer the unthinkable and insists at times with skipping his 2-5 year old play ground and going to the 7-12 year old one! It takes both mom and I to handle the situation when it happens, as he gets 10 feet off the ground, approaches open edges, goes down down the crazy slides I wouldn't even dream to go down, and then climb up the side of a rock climbing wall with a chain rope to get back up to the top! Both times George climbed up the rock wall with metal chain, he knew it was out of his league and a bit scary and the second time he went up it, decided that that would be it, and after a hug and wanting a feeding after getting to the top, he willingly went to his 2-5 year old built playground area!
We finished the evening off with family home evening, which was very nice. Apparently my mother has horrible news though, in the form of a hip fracture! She's scheduled an appointment for surgery and will have to have her hip replaced. Its really horrible because she's in so much pain and the earliest they could book the appointment is next January. I feel like we have Canadian insurance in America (they always use to come to the US because of crazy waiting lists in Canada, but now it looks like we have the same system with too few doctors and too many people), but at least she's able to get the appointment though. We'll be walking the same pace until then I presume, since I'm 7 months along and she's not walking too fast with a horribly hurting hip! It'd be nice if someone cancels an appointment, but if it takes so long to get one, I can't see anyone willfully doing that, but there's always hope. Until then, mom, take it easy!
